JULY 2021 IL BAR EXAM WILL BE REMOTE
July 2021 Illinois administration of the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE)
On February 2, 2021, the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) announced that it will again offer bar examination materials in an electronic form for purposes of a remote exam administration for July 2021. It will again be a full Uniform Bar Examination (UBE) with score portability.
As it did for the February 2021 exam, NCBE will make a full set of bar exam materials available for remote administration in July on the same dates as the in-person administration (July 27–28, 2021).
While statistics on hospitalization and vaccination rates are encouraging, the Illinois Supreme Court and the Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar believe restrictions may still be in place this summer that would prevent Illinois from using large venues for an in-person exam in July.
In light of the continuing risks to public health, the ability to obtain a UBE score with the July 2021 exam, and the overall successful administration of two remote exams, the Illinois Supreme Court has determined that the July 2021 UBE in Illinois will be administered remotely.
The filing deadline for the July 2021 exam remains Saturday, May 15, 2021. Further information will be posted on our website.
